Gabe DAVIES, A surfer with commitment

Gabe Davies is an icon of European surfing and one of the most committed individuals in the field when it comes to both big waves and environmental causes, which he’s always stood up for.

In the early 90’s, Gabe was one of the people who put Great-Britain on the global surfing map. Through sessions at home or trips across the globe, the four-time national champion was all over the European and international surfing media at that time.

Eventually, the British surfer yearned for something else. In addition to producing successful documentaries, Gabe transferred professionally thanks to his long-time sponsor, Quiksilver. His career took him through a variety of roles, from athlete management and public relations to content creation as well as environmental activism, a natural evolution for him given he was one of the initial ambassadors for the British NGO « Surfers Against Sewage ».

A few years down the road, his commitment to these causes naturally led him to Patagonia. Today, twelve years later, as Ocean Marketing Manager EMEA, he represents the brand whose stance and message resonates with his own values as well as those of many consumers.

For Inside EuroSIMA, Gabe took the time to discuss his journey, his career as well as his views on the role and responsibilities of the Action sports industry, including evolutions, challenges and opportunities.
